ALS dated 1889 Oct 26 to an unidentified recipient in which Hughes provides possible reasons for recipient's unsuccessful microphone experiments; ALS to Conrad Cooke dated 1890 Jul 9 concerning Cooke's biography of the 16th century scientist William Gilbert. Accompanied by a manuscript list, dated 1883, written and signed by W. Hochhausen on letterhead of the Excelsior Electric Company, New York, of five "features not included in Continental applications."
